in practice / Level10

Laravel 7 → 12.
The product kept moving.

With BlueSky Creative, we upgraded Level10’s patient-survey platform one major version at a time, filled gaps in the tests, and continued building features in the live application.

Good work. Good working relationships.

We asked Roy to join an existing team, amplifying our capabilities during a specific push to launch some new features. He slipped into our workstream easily, adding value right away. His communication was clear, reaching out when he needed roadblocks removed but mostly working independently.

Before we get started.

Can you help us upgrade to Laravel 13?
Yes. We review your current Laravel and PHP versions, package compatibility, and test coverage, then plan the upgrade. For older applications, we work through the intervening major versions and check existing behavior at each step.
Can you take over an app you didn’t build?
Yes. We start by understanding the code, hosting, dependencies, and the workflows people rely on. Then we agree on priorities and a practical handover. Incomplete documentation or an older codebase is a starting point, not a dealbreaker.
Will you recommend a rewrite?
Only if the case for one is clear. Improving the existing application is usually the first option to investigate. If a larger rebuild makes sense, we’ll explain the costs and trade-offs before you commit to it.
Can features continue during an upgrade?
That’s the aim. We plan the upgrade around the product’s priorities and dependencies. For Level10, we moved from Laravel 7 to 12 while continuing feature development.
Can you work with our agency or internal team?
Yes. We can join an existing development workflow or take on the technical work for an agency’s client application. You work directly with Roy on priorities, implementation, and progress.
Do you take on a specific fix or ongoing work?
Both. A focused problem can be a useful place to start. If you need ongoing development and maintenance, we can discuss that once we understand the application and the workload.
What does it cost, and when can you start?
That depends on the scope and current availability. The first conversation is free. From there, we agree on the next step and its cost before work begins.
